Obituary

Douglas Montgomery, son of the late Kyle and Marion (Conner) Montgomery, was born August 9, 1942 in Montgomery County, Virginia. He passed away Friday, September 4, 2020 at the age of 78 years at Logan Regional Hospital in Logan, WV.

Douglas grew up in an era when the coal mining industry was booming, he gained the skills of a mechanic at very young age from his father working on coal mine trucks. He used those skills later while working for the Ford Motor Company as an Automotive Mechanic as well as while serving in the US Army (Vietnam War) as a Heavy Machinery Mechanic. He was exceptionally talented with his hands and was skilled at many other trades; he worked in car sales, he did carpentry, electrical, plumbing and construction work.

Doug lived his life determined with grace, courage, and no regrets. He was a collector of four-leaf clovers believing that each leaf in the clover symbolized good FAITH, HOPE, LOVE and LUCK for the finder…
His fond memories will be cherished by his sister; Lucy Jane Godfrey, brother; Kyle “Popeye” (Antoinette) Montgomery, Jr., a host of children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Doug was predeceased by his Father; Kyle Montgomery, Sr., Mother; Marion (Conner) Montgomery, Sisters; Mrs. Lillie Donaldson, Mrs. Victoria Howard, Mrs. Ruth Brown, Miss Gladys Montgomery, Brother; Robert Montgomery and Son; Douglas Montgomery, Jr. (Baby Doug)
