I always appreciated Don as my boss. He was fair an impartial and we had many good talks. I especially got tickled at him when we raided several marijuana fields in the Chapmanville (Harts Creek) area. We were in our State Police coveralls and he was dressed like a hunter/farmer. Some of the pot growers were starting to get mad at our confiscating their marijuana crops and Don just calmly stated, "Boys you can come the easy way or the hard way, doesn't matter to us. But you will lose." Wish I could be there but I treasure my time under his leadership. Praying for all.

To Mrs Bush and family, I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to each of you. Don and I worked together on several State Police details from southern coal strikes, prison riots and traffic control in the eastern Panhandle of WV. He always had a big smile and a story to tell. I often think of my friend, Big Don, and I will continue to recall our adventures as fellow State Police Officers. God bless each of you and comfort you during this most difficult time. Don’s work is done and he’s at rest with our Lord and Savior. God’s speed my friend, Rest In Peace!
