Obituary

Carol Thompson, 76 of Logan departed this life Wednesday February 26, 2019 at Dignity Hospice House at Chapmanville.

She was born March 6, 1942 at Logan to the late Audna and Delphia Webb Hall.

Carol worked for Social Security for 30 years.

She is survived by: her husband, Jimmy Thompson; son, “Cigar” (Debra) Thompson; daughter, Deborah (Jeff) Zemolong; grandchildren, Daniel (Shana) Zemolong, Zachariah (Erica) Zemolong, Jennifer (Matthew) McCallister, and Tina Mahone; great-grandchildren, Haleigh June Bobersky, Lucy Mae Zemolong, Brandon McCallister, Issac McCallister, and Jaiden Mahone; sisters, Ruth Emma Curry, Diana Babcock, and Virginia Mullins; and brother, Glen (Aracoma) Hall.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday March 2, 2019 at Akers-James Funeral Home at Logan with Rev. Lonnie Gore Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday March 1, 2019 also at the funeral home.

Jimmy, Cigar, Deb and families: I’m shocked and saddened to hear of Carol’s passing. I worked with her at SSA many decades ago, and I still recall her quick wit and hilarious dry sense of humor. She was a very special lady. My prayers go out to all of you during this difficult time.

My condolences to the family of Jimmy Thompson. Carol will be sadly missed.
I remember Carol from our Biology class helping her to bi-sect a frog. Also, she always sent us a Christmas card at Christmas time.
